Short Paragraph 12/02
The medium I chose to work with was oil pastels. I have never really working with oil pastels before so I thought it would be a good thing to try. When we were testing the different medium options I loved the bright colors of the oil pastels. I also like how they are of a more controlled mess, especially when compared to the messier chalk pastel.

Artist statement: Interpretation of Power
Title of my series: We live in nature's world.
This piece portrays the power and relentlessness of nature. Nature is an uncontrollable force and we live in its world, not the other way around. It can be beautiful and gentle, but it can also be destructive and explosive. We can't predict nature or order it around, we have to live hand in hand and accept the fact it can not be controlled. The human race may build a sky scraper but an earthquake can bring it down. A town can be simply swept away with the waters of the sea. We live in nature's world,so I decided to create a three acrylic paintings of the ocean, a volcano, and land formations created from erosion.
